Well, we’re back in the Audi on our way to SLC where I will meet the in-laws for the first time. I’ll also have a chance to reconnect with Parker after a decade. We’re currently just outside of Pendleton where I took some great shots of the valley. Still couldn’t get exactly the right shot and I realize now that in order to take the kind of shots I want, I’ll need an SLC camera.
(Second entry)
We’re now in Idaho. It’s been, probably, 30 years since I’ve been here (my family came here on vacation to Snake River Canyon when I was around 10). We’ve stopped at someplace called the Flying J which is some massive truck stop/restaurant/travel center about half an hour outside of Boise. I have that same sense of my body being a bit on-edge that I get whenever I am in places like this.
So far the drive has been pleasant. I was surprised at how little traffic there is on Eastbound I-84. Most of the traffic we’ve seen has appeared to be local or truckers. Having gorged ourselves on salad (which seemed like the safest bet) we’re about to return to the road.
